Jan 2013

Happy New Year...finally made the blog look nice with some of my favourite records.

Found some absolute gems this month.

Local music virtuoso's DBH's album is a wonderful record - it shows off his outstanding technical skill without ever being wanky, self indulgent or arrogant. I was expecting a pure guitar record but there's Debussy esque piano, violin and drums all over it too. I've not included the tune so please, please buy it HERE!
There's also more guitar genius in Francisco Tarrega's 'Gran Vals' (which was made famous by Nokia) and Pajo's solo at the end of Palace Music's Horses.

I've been going through some of  Kurt Cobain's top records that I didn't know and unsurprisingly they're all brilliant, 'The Saints' and 'Fang' are two of the best punk bands I've heard for ages. There's more local talent from Warm Widow and Fully Mared and as ever, another wonderful Smog tune I stumbled across at somepoint.

Enjoy...
